What E201 Means
On a Bosch slide-in range the E2 codes do not refer to a second oven; the service manual states they apply specifically to the warming drawer. E201 is therefore the warming drawer's temperature sensor reading open circuit, from a disconnected sensor or a faulty connection. The drawer stops heating while the main oven above it continues to work normally.
Common Causes of E201
- Warming drawer temperature sensor failed open
- Drawer sensor connector unplugged or corroded
- Break in the wiring between the drawer and the control module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Confirm the symptom by using the main oven as usual and then setting the warming drawer on its own. A drawer that stays cold while the oven behaves proves the fault is confined to the drawer circuit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The warming drawer sits at the bottom of the range, so its wiring is reached from underneath or from behind after the appliance is drawn forward.
- On a gas range that means moving the appliance with its flexible connector attached, so the appliance gas shut-off valve must be closed first.
- The drawer and the oven share one control module, so a drawer fault is still worth checking against the board before parts are ordered.
- Resistance figures for the drawer sensor differ from the oven cavity sensor, and using the wrong reference condemns a good part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
