What E122 Means
E122 on a Bosch range means the meat probe is reading hotter than the control allows and the oven stops heating until it is removed. Bosch's first suggested check is whether the probe was plugged in but left lying in the cavity instead of inserted into food, since a probe in open oven air reaches cavity temperature quickly and reads over range quite honestly.

- Probe element failed and reading above range
- Contaminated probe receptacle or damaged lead
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Using an oven glove, unplug the probe and take it out of the cavity, then restart the bake without it. An oven that heats normally afterwards tells you the probe or the way it was used is the whole explanation.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The probe has reached an over-range temperature by definition, so it should be handled with protection rather than bare hands.
- Bosch checks how the probe was used before testing anything, which means this is often not a fault at all.
- A probe reading is only meaningful compared with Bosch's published resistance figure for the part.
- If the probe tests good, the fault is in the receptacle wiring inside the cavity wall of the range.
