What E17 Means
E17 (also shown as F17) generally means the pump run time has exceeded its expected limit, or that the washer has detected an abnormally high water level in the drum.
Common Causes of E17
- Drain hose routed too high or kinked
- Blocked drain pump or filter
- Failing water-level pressure sensor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Confirm the drain hose isn't kinked and is positioned at the correct height (typically no higher than about 3 feet) — an incorrectly routed hose can cause both drain timeout and water-level readings to look abnormal.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Water-level sensor wiring routes near the motor's high-voltage connections — testing it without disconnecting power first is a shock risk.
- Rerouting the drain hose height incorrectly can introduce a siphoning issue that looks identical to a sensor fault, leading to an unnecessary part purchase.
- A pressure sensor hose reconnected even slightly loose after inspection can cause chronic overfilling that damages the drum over time.
- Misjudging this as a pump issue when it's actually hose height (or the reverse) means paying for the wrong repair.
- Accessing the water-level sensor typically requires opening the top or rear panel, a common way this warranty gets voided.
