What dr:19 Means
dr:19 on a Bosch Vision front-load washer means the inverter has measured the three motor phases and found them unequal. Bosch's stated cause is a motor winding short circuit and the remedy is unambiguous: replace the motor. Unlike most of the dr codes, this one points at the motor itself rather than at the drive electronics.
Common Causes of dr:19
- Short between turns in a motor winding
- Winding insulation broken down by heat or moisture
- Water ingress to the motor from a leak above it
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Isolate the machine at the breaker and leave it off. A shorted motor winding draws current through a path it was never meant to take, and that is not a condition to run repeatedly while deciding what to do.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A shorted winding is an electrical fault inside a sealed motor, so there is nothing to inspect or adjust from outside.
- The motor is at the back of the drum under the tub, reached with the machine out and the rear panel off.
- Bosch's remedy is replacement, so any time spent testing beyond confirming the fault is time wasted.
- If water from a leak reached the motor, fitting a new one without finding the leak repeats the failure.
