What dr:01 Means
Bosch Vision front-load washers keep a second family of codes prefixed dr, which belong to the inverter that drives the motor rather than to the main control. dr:01 is an IGBT short circuit: one of the power switching devices inside the inverter has failed short. Bosch's stated cause is damaged inverter control and the remedy is to replace the inverter.

- Motor fault that took the inverter output with it
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Isolate the machine at the breaker and leave it off. A short in a power switching device is not something to test around, and Bosch's own answer for this code is a replacement rather than a repair.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The inverter handles the high-voltage side of the motor drive, and its capacitors can hold a charge after the machine is unplugged.
- A shorted output device often fails because of something else, so fitting a new inverter without finding that leaves it exposed.
- Bosch's diagnosis runs the motor test programme, which energises exactly the circuit that has just failed.
- Inverters are matched to the motor fitted, and a mismatched unit will not drive the drum correctly even if it fits.
