What Er:01 Means
Er:01 is the door-open fault on Bosch front-load washers of the Nexxt and Vision generations. Bosch's service documentation defines it as the door switch not being actuated, or the door lock not engaging. On the WFMC3200 display the same fault appears as E:01, while the WFMC6400 and Vision models show it as Er:01, which is why both forms turn up in owner discussions.
Common Causes of Er:01
- Door not fully closed, or laundry caught in the seal
- Door latch tongue worn or damaged
- Door lock assembly failing to engage
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door fully and close it again firmly until you feel the latch engage, checking first that no laundry is trapped in the seal. If it still will not start, look at the latch tongue on the door for damage or for a build-up of lint and detergent residue.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The door lock is what keeps a drum full of hot water shut while it spins, so this is not an interlock to work around.
- The lock assembly sits behind the front panel beside the door seal, and refitting that seal on its retaining spring is easy to get wrong.
- A latch forced when it will not engage bends the striker, after which the door never lines up properly again.
- Front panel work on a newer machine may affect what is still covered, so check your warranty terms before starting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
