What E107 Means
E107 on a Bosch range is the oven door staying locked. The manual gives two documented reasons: the cavity is still too hot for the control to release it, or the latch is not operating as expected. Attempts stop after one minute, and the error clears once the latch is seen open for more than ten seconds.
Common Causes of E107
- Cavity still above the release temperature
- Latch motor or position switch failed
- Latch mechanism binding after a clean cycle
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the oven cool completely before touching the door at all, because a self-clean cycle leaves the cavity far above normal cooking temperature; once it is genuinely cold, cut power at the breaker for several minutes and try the door again. Do not lever or pry it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The first documented cause is simply that the oven is still too hot, and a self-clean cycle takes it well past 800 degrees Fahrenheit.
- The latch circuit runs with the heating circuit, so live testing carries a shock risk on top of the heat.
- On a gas range the area behind the fascia includes the valve manifold, so the appliance gas shut-off must be closed before any work there.
- Levering a locked door bends the frame and leaves a door that never seals properly again.
