What E009 Means
Every time a Bosch oven resets, it checks its own program memory before allowing anything to heat. E009 is the record of that check failing in the user interface. The manual is explicit about the consequence: all heating elements are disabled. It also notes that the error clears itself if the next memory check passes at start-up, which is why an oven can sometimes come back after a power cut and behave normally.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cut power at the breaker for two minutes and restore it, which forces the oven to run its memory check again. Bosch documents that the error cancels if that check succeeds, so a single occurrence after a storm or outage is worth one reset before assuming a failure.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- With all heating elements disabled the oven is inert, so there is nothing that can be diagnosed by running it.
- Bosch pairs this code with a companion code on the control module, and the two need different parts, so replacing on a guess has an even chance of being wrong.
- The user interface is behind the control panel trim, which on a built-in oven is reached by drawing the whole appliance out of its cabinet.
- Interface boards are model and revision specific, and one fitted into a mismatched control module produces the configuration fault instead.
