Narrow freezer columns hold a lot of frozen food in very little floor area, which means they are usually packed solid – and a packed freezer is a freezer whose air cannot circulate. Uneven temperatures in a column freezer are more often a loading problem than a fault, and it is worth ruling that out before anything is replaced.
