What E302 Means
E302 is the control module protecting itself. A sensor on the board has measured its own surroundings above the limit, so the oven turns the heating elements off and drives the cooling fan to high speed. Heating resumes and the error clears once the cavity drops to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Bosch adds that if a self-clean cycle was running, it stays disabled until a control reset is performed.
Common Causes of E302
- Cooling fan not running or running slowly
- Ventilation trim blocked, damaged or wrongly fitted
- Heating relay stuck, putting more heat into the cabinet than expected
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the ventilation trims above and below the oven door are clear and undamaged, since Bosch lists air obstruction and damaged trims among the causes. A trim kit pushed out of shape during installation is a surprisingly common reason for this.
