What E:23 Means
E:23 points at the drain pump motor rather than at anything blocking it. Bosch's instruction is to measure the resistance across any two of the pump's three terminals and compare it with the published value: a correct reading moves the blame to the power module, a wrong one condemns the pump. The same code is used when the drain pump harness is disconnected or damaged.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Start a short programme and listen for the drain pump at the end of the fill: a brief hum with no water movement, or silence where there used to be a distinct whirr, both fit this code. Leave the measuring to a technician.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The pump terminals sit under the tub in the wettest part of the machine, and they carry supply voltage whenever the control calls for a drain.
- Without Bosch's resistance figure for the exact pump fitted, a reading tells you a number but not whether the pump is good.
- Replacing the pump means unseating it from the sump housing and reseating its gasket, and a gasket pinched on refitting leaks under the cabinet.
- A module replaced because the harness was actually at fault is an expensive way to end up with the same code.
