What E:17 Means
E:17 is logged when water is arriving faster than the machine's fill logic expects, which Bosch attributes to supply pressure above the range the appliance is designed for. The behaviour that goes with it is a dishwasher that drains repeatedly and then stops mid-programme. The two documented actions are to have the supply pressure checked against local plumbing requirements and to check the inlet valve itself.

- Failed pressure-reducing valve on the house supply
- Inlet valve no longer metering the fill correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If other fixtures in the house bang or hammer when a tap is closed quickly, that points the same way this code does. Having the incoming pressure measured is an inexpensive plumbing call and helps every appliance in the house, not just this one.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Pressure high enough to upset a fill cycle also stresses every flexible hose in the house, so treating it as a dishwasher fault alone misses the larger problem.
- Fitting a regulator is licensed plumbing work in many jurisdictions and is not a fitting to improvise on a live main.
- High pressure and a failing valve produce the same display, so replacing the valve without measuring the supply can leave the new valve failing the same way.
- The machine draining repeatedly is the control trying to protect itself, and overriding that by restarting the cycle simply repeats the stress.
