Wider induction cooktops carry more power modules under the glass, and the power supply requirement rises with them. A 36 inch induction cooktop needs a correctly rated dedicated circuit, and an installation that has been wired to the rating of the old electric cooktop it replaced is the commonest cause of a new induction top tripping the breaker under load.
