What Er:17 Means
Er:17 on a Bosch Vision front-load washer is the Aquastop fault. Bosch's table gives three causes: the Aquastop has genuinely actuated, meaning it has detected water and shut the supply off; the Aquastop switch itself is damaged; or the wire harness to it has failed. 🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the water supply tap behind the machine straight away, then look at the floor and under the machine for water before anything else. Do not restart the cycle to see whether the code clears.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The first thing on Bosch's own remedy list is to eliminate leaks, which means the code should be treated as real until proven otherwise.
- Water that has reached the base of the machine has usually been travelling for a while and may have reached the floor under the cabinet.
- The Aquastop mechanism is built into the inlet hose and is designed not to be reset casually, so forcing it damages the hose.
- Testing the switch means working at the base of a machine that has water in it, with the mains connection close by.
