What Er:16 Means
Er:16 on a Bosch Nexxt front-load washer means the control could not calibrate the pressure sensor. Calibration is the zero point the machine takes with an empty drum, so that every later reading means something. If that zero cannot be established, water levels are guesswork. Bosch gives the same two causes as for the invalid-voltage version: the sensor or its wire harness.
Common Causes of Er:16
- Pressure sensor out of calibration range or failed
- Residual water in the tub preventing a valid zero
- Air tube or harness fault distorting the reading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the machine is sitting level and that the drum is genuinely empty of water before a cycle starts, since calibration happens against an empty tub. A machine that never fully drains cannot find its zero.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A calibration fault can be caused by a drain problem rather than a sensor problem, and only one of those is fixed by a new sensor.
- The air tube to the sensor is thin and easy to pinch when a panel goes back on, which produces exactly this symptom.
- Bosch's calibration routine runs from the service test programme, not from the normal controls.
- Working at the top of the cabinet means removing the worktop, which on a built-under machine means pulling it out first.
