What Er:14 Means
Er:14 means the water in a Bosch front-load washer has reached the safety level, the point above which the machine will not go on filling. Bosch's causes cover both ends of the problem: a blocked pump or hose so water is not leaving, and a damaged inlet valve so water keeps arriving. The Vision manual calls it the safety level reached, which is a fair description of what the control has just done.
Common Causes of Er:14
- Drain pump or filter blocked so water cannot leave
- Drain hose blocked or kinked
- Inlet valve passing water when it should be shut
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close both supply taps immediately, because one documented cause is a valve that keeps letting water in. Then clear the pump filter at the bottom front with a tray underneath, which addresses the other half of the cause list.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A valve that passes can keep filling a machine with nobody in the room, so closing the taps is the one thing to do before anything else.
- Opening a drum that has reached safety level releases a lot of water at once if the door lock is defeated.
- The inlet valve sits on the pressurised side of the taps, so removing it without closing them sprays water into the electronics.
- Restarting the cycle to see whether it drains this time repeats the overfill that triggered the protection.
