What Er:12 Means
Er:12 on a Bosch front-load washer means water is arriving but far too slowly, so the fill has taken longer than the control allows. Bosch lists the same three suspects as for the no-water fault, the inlet valve, the wire harness and the hose, but the distinction matters: here water is getting in, just not fast enough to finish the fill in time.
Common Causes of Er:12
- Partly blocked inlet filter screens
- Supply tap only partly open or a kinked inlet hose
- Inlet valve opening incompletely
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check whether other taps in the house have lost pressure at the same time, then clean the inlet hose filter screens with the taps closed. A partly blocked screen slows the fill without stopping it, which is exactly what this code describes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A slow fill and a failed valve look identical from the front of the machine, and Bosch's test programmes exist precisely to separate them.
- The valve is at the back of the machine on the pressurised side, and disconnecting it with the taps open floods the floor.
- Bosch's tests for this code drive the valves and the pressure system, which means running the machine with panels off.
- Pulling a machine out from under a counter with the hoses still connected is how hoses get kinked in the first place.
