Clean the Seals Monthly
Wipe door gaskets with warm water and mild soap monthly to remove food residue and grime that can cause the rubber to degrade faster and lose its ability to seal fully.
Check the Seal Regularly
Close the door on a piece of paper so it’s held in place by the seal, then try to pull it out. If it slides out easily, the seal isn’t gripping properly along that section.
Climate Matters More Than You’d Think
In humid coastal climates, door seals can degrade noticeably faster than in drier regions — something our technicians see often on service calls in Miami and other humid metro areas. If you’re in a high-humidity area, more frequent seal inspections are worth the extra few minutes.
Why This Matters for Sensor Faults Too
A poor seal makes the compressor cycle more erratically, which can accelerate wear on temperature sensors and occasionally contribute to codes like E01. Book a refrigerator inspection if a seal looks visibly cracked or brittle.
