Common Problems

Why Won’t My Bosch Oven Heat Up Properly?

Uneven baking or an oven that won't reach temperature is one of the most common Bosch oven complaints — and one of the more affordable repairs to fix.

An oven that runs hot, runs cold, or bakes unevenly is frustrating but, in most cases, a fairly routine and affordable repair. Here’s what’s usually behind it.

Temperature Sensor Faults Are the Usual Culprit

A failed or drifting temperature sensor is the most common cause of inconsistent baking, showing as an E027 or E118 error code. The sensor feeds temperature data to the control board continuously during baking — when it drifts even slightly, your oven can run 20-30 degrees off the set temperature without any obvious symptom besides inconsistent results.

How to Confirm It’s Not Just Your Recipe

Before assuming a fault, it’s worth placing an independent oven thermometer inside and comparing it to the set temperature over a full preheat cycle. A consistent gap confirms a sensor issue rather than a one-off baking mishap.

Control Board Faults Are Less Common, But Possible

If the oven won’t heat at all, rather than just running inaccurately, a control board fault like E029 may be to blame, especially after a recent power surge or outage.
