Large black stainless refrigerators show every mark, and they also show something more useful: condensation. A faint band of moisture along the centre mullion on a humid day is normal and the cabinet heater deals with it, but a persistent wet line there in ordinary conditions means the doors are not sealing, and on a dark finish you will see it long before you feel a temperature problem.
