What E104 Means
E104 on a Bosch slide-in range means the oven cavity temperature sensor circuit is shorted to ground. Bosch's suggested action names the likely mechanism before the part: wires pinched or shorting against metalwork. The range stops oven heating and runs the cooling fan at high speed until two good readings come through.

- Sensor harness pinched against the range chassis
- Temperature probe internally shorted
- Heat damage to the harness insulation behind the cavity
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
A breaker reset tells you whether the short is constant or comes and goes, which is genuinely useful. Tracing the wiring itself means moving the range, which on a gas model is not a job to start without shutting off the appliance gas valve.
