What Er:20 Means
Er:20 on a Bosch front-load washer records the spin being abandoned. Both service documents give the same first cause, a load too unbalanced to spin safely, and both add a second: a faulty wire harness, or on the Vision platform a loss of communication with the inverter during the spin. So it is usually the laundry and occasionally the wiring.
Common Causes of Er:20
- Load unevenly distributed, often a single heavy item
- Machine not level so the drum cannot settle
- Wire harness to the motor drive faulty
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door and redistribute the load, mixing large and small items rather than washing a single heavy item like a bath mat or a duvet on its own. Then run a spin-only programme and see whether it completes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A machine that spins an unbalanced load at full speed hammers its own bearings and suspension, which is why the control refuses.
- Levelling a washer properly means adjusting all four feet and locking them, not wedging one corner.
- If redistributing does not help, the remaining cause is motor-drive wiring, which is behind the cabinet panels.
- Repeatedly forcing a spin on a load that will not balance shortens the life of the drum bearings noticeably.
