What Er:09 Means
Er:09 on a Bosch front-load washer means the control has lost contact with the motor drive. On the Nexxt generation Bosch words it as communication lost to the motor; on the Vision platform, which uses a separate inverter board, it is described as no communication between the control and the inverter. Both documents name the wire harness as the cause and checking that harness as the remedy.

- Connector at the inverter or motor unseated
- Chafed harness shorting where it passes the chassis

Cut power at the breaker for ten minutes and restore it, which is worth one attempt. Note whether the drum turns at all when you start a cycle, since a machine that fills and then sits still matches this fault precisely.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The harness runs from the fascia down the side of the cabinet to the motor area, past the drum that moves during a spin.
- Bosch's diagnosis uses the motor test programme, which drives the drum deliberately and is not a mode to enter by guesswork.
- The same connectors carry mains voltage to the motor, so the harness cannot be traced with the machine live.
- A break that only opens when the machine vibrates will test perfectly with the drum still, which is how good harnesses get replaced.
