What E:08 Means
E:08 means the heat pump is reporting less water around its heating element than a wash needs, which is the condition Bosch protects against because a partly exposed element overheats. The causes listed are all about water going somewhere other than the sump: a leaking heat exchanger valve, a general leak, a kinked or leaking inlet hose, and upturned bowls or pots in the racks holding the fill water above the sump.

- Kinked or leaking water inlet hose
- Leak at the heat exchanger valve or elsewhere in the wash circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reload the lower rack so bowls, mugs and pans face downward rather than sitting upright, because Bosch lists cookware collecting the fill water as a genuine cause. Then check behind the machine that the inlet hose is not kinked where it turns into the cabinet.

- Two of the four documented causes are leaks, and a leak that is found late has usually been under the cabinet floor for a while.
- Bosch's remedy for the valve version of this fault is a heat exchanger replacement, which involves breaking into the water circuit.

- Running repeat cycles to see whether it clears is exactly what puts a partly covered element under stress.
